Lusu had an existing website built on a 3rd party platform that wasn't delivering for the business and didn't showcase the amazing work they do and the innovative products and programs they provide. Working with The Engine Room one of the UK's leading brand and strategic development agencies we were tasked with the role of web development, bringing the functional requirements of the client and design by the Engine Room into a completed website. The site needed to have a restricted members area tiered into three user levels which allowed access to resources such as training videos, discounted products, and downloadable programs, ensuring it was completely accessible to ensure it met the needs of the Lusu audience.
LUSU Transform the lives of children with disabilities and their families. They do this by training people to work with them on inclusive sport and physical activity that in turn impacts mental health and wellbeing. Experts in inclusive sport and activity, LUSU is fronted by two passionate, energetic and knowledgeable individuals who are committed to changing the attitudes, techniques and skills of people within educational and sporting environments.
Working closely with the Engine Room we planned the key milestones and functionality required to deliver the project. Our development team then developed the online shop and members system to work seamlessly together making it simple for users to purchase a members package and products in one checkout. Ensuring that we developed the site to web accessibility standards and with the inclusion of UserWay we were confident that the site would meet the needs of its audience. At Fallen Leaf, we are fanatic about speed & performance, and with the new site receiving an A rating 100% performance score at GTMetrix and loading in a lightning quick 424ms the website load times are as amazing as the work that Lusu do.
The new site provides the perfect platform for users to access the amazing resources Lusu provides to deliver inclusive sports to children with disabilities. One user of the website who has no sight fed back to Lusu "The website is incredibly accessible from a screen reader point of view, even with the accessible plug-in disabled. I like that the ball is available in two clicks through ‘shop’ and then ‘VI sound ball’. I was able to use voice-over on iOS and then JAWS and NVDA screen readers on windows to find the ball, add it to my basket and take it through right to the point of purchase." Its great for us to hear that the site is delivering for its users and providing the accessible web that we strive for.
